The 49ersHub Week 1 Score Predictions
Dan (florida_niner):
In Week One, the 49ers travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks and their new look offense led by quarterback Sam Darnold. Expect the Seahawks to attempt to run the ball with the combination of Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet against a retooled 49ers defensive front that will have to rely on rookies Mykel Williams, Alfred Collins, and CJ West to slow the rushing attack. Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir matched up against wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba should provide plenty of fireworks.
On the offensive side of the ball, the 49ers will welcome back a healthy Christian McCaffrey, paired with recently acquired Brian Robinson Jr., to carry the load for Kyle Shanahan’s offense as the wide receiver unit is thin due to injuries to Jauan Jennings and Brandon Aiyuk, as well as a suspension to free agent acquisition Demarcus Robinson. With Jennings' status up in the air for this week, McCaffrey, Ricky Pearsall, and George Kittle should expect to see the bulk of the targets from Brock Purdy as the 2025 version of the offense finds its legs. Purdy is 3-0 in Seattle since taking over starting duties, and I expect he will remain undefeated in the Emerald City.
Prediction: 49ers 24, Seahawks 16
Nate (MidwestFaithful):
The Seattle Seahawks are not a team I'm worried about in 2025. Defensive-minded coach, added an aging Cooper Kupp and professional ghost hunter in Sam Darnold, they don't quite move the needle for me. Their defense does look to capitalize on some success it saw last year, but overall, I believe the offense will be the reason the Seahawks miss the playoffs for a fourth year in a row. With a defensive line built to stuff the run and have Darnold looking over his shoulder for four quarters, I’m taking the 49ers all day in this matchup. My only concern is the receiving core we will be trotting out onto the field come game day, but my belief in Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, and George Kittle trumps all of those worries.
Prediction: 49ers 28, Seahawks 14
Zach (zgrier24):
Traveling to Seattle will give 49ers fans plenty of flashbacks from the Jim Harbaugh days, but as of recently, the 49ers are undefeated at Lumen Field stadium in the Brock Purdy era. I don’t believe that will last forever, though. Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike MacDonald has shown himself to be an excellent defensive-minded coach, especially in his time with the Baltimore Ravens. That Christmas game still haunts me. In MacDonald’s first year coaching, he led the team to 10 wins and tied the Los Angeles Rams for the NFC West division title. The only reason they lost was due to the Rams having a better strength of victory, meaning the Rams won against tougher teams than the Seahawks did that year.
I expect the Seahawks to be knocking on that Top-10 defense door with a young secondary and solid defensive line. I’m not as worried about their offense, though. Newly acquired quarterback Sam Darnold is coming from a very talented Minnesota Vikings team to a lesser talented offense, so we’ll see how well he does in a different system.
There have been plenty of talks of the 49ers offense throughout all of the off-season and training camp on how good they look. This will be a very good test for the young players, especially on defense, to prepare for the rest of the season.
Prediction: 49ers 27, Seahawks 17
Mason (DTH_Mason):
I’d be lying if I didn’t say this game feels like a trap. I hope all goes well, but traveling to Seattle while the receiving room is beat up feels like we’re set up for a mismatch. That said, I don’t see how Seattle has an answer for McCaffrey or Kittle.
I’d hammer any overs on George Kittle week one, but if they get interior pressure on the 49ers' offensive line, it could be a long day. That said, we’ve seen plenty of the Kubiak-inspired offenses before, so we should match up well against their defense, too.
I favor the 49ers if the offenses get to a quick start, but I’m worried this could fall out of their favor if this is a slow grind game. That would also mean we may be depending on Jake Moody, which scared me more than anything else. Let’s hope for the former.
Prediction: 49ers 27, Seahawks 23
Chris (ninerpride66):
I have to admit I’m not totally convinced the 49ers are going to be a great team this year. There is too much uncertainty surrounding the team. The 49ers' offense must carry them the first three or four weeks. That’s a veteran group for our young defensive players to find their rhythm. Well, as it comes down to our showdown with the Seattle Seahawks. This game will come down to how well Sam Donald has meshed with the Seahawks ' offense and players, and how quickly the 49ers' young defensive players can make an impact. The MVP of this game will probably be Nick Bosa. He will finally have an edge rusher on his opposite side. This will be a thrilling test of the grit and potential of the 49ers
Prediction: 49ers 23, Seahawks 13
Logen (lhowell_07):
Nothing says football is back like a divisional matchup to kick the season off! The 49ers' off-season has been the exact opposite of last season. They come into the game with guys paid early (minus Jauan Jennings) and all 53 players on the active roster practicing. The vibes are much higher than last year, leading up to Week 1.
With that being said, playing in Seattle is never an easy task, and Mike McDonald has assembled a defense with talent all over. The biggest question in this matchup is Sam Darnold’s ability to show that Minnesota was not a fluke. Robert Saleh is going to be tasked with slowing down an offense in Seattle with plenty of new faces in the lineup, and he will be up to the task. I believe the 49ers will be fueled by their new energetic defensive coordinator, Robert Saleh, and find a way to get it done on the road.
Prediction: 49ers 31, Seahawks 17

Concern for Christian McCaffrey’s health notwithstanding, I personally view this team as wild-card contenders, if not competing to host a playoff game this year. If that is the case, this opener is the perfect measuring stick for how the season will go. Since moving to Lumen Field, the Hawks are 9-1 in home openers and have the highest home winning percentage in the NFL. Their roster is loaded after two great draft classes, coming off a 10-win season, and they have now brought in a potent offensive scheme to pair with Mike Macdonald. All that being said, there are levels, and they are not on the 49ers' level the past few years. I believe CMC goes, Brock plays clean, efficient football, and the Niners take home the win.
Prediction: 49ers 27, Seahawks 21
